Spelman College Mission
Spelman College, a historically Black college and a global leader in the education of women of African descent, is dedicated to academic excellence in the liberal arts and sciences and the intellectual, creative, ethical, and leadership development of its students. Spelman empowers the whole person to engage the many cultures of the world and inspires a commitment to positive social change.
The Association provides, encourages and promotes growth and development of alumnae through leadership opportunities and partnership alliances. NAASC actively seeks to involve all former students and graduates in the fulfillment of its purpose.

The purpose of the Houston Chapter of the National Alumnae Association of Spelman College is:
- To unite and promote fellowship among Spelman women in the Greater Houston area
- To stimulate interest among women to attend Spelman College
- To encourage individual financial support of Spelman College
- To provide scholarship support to women attending Spelman College
The Houston Chapter serves alumnae, students, and the community in the Houston metropolitan area. The chapter seeks to engage all former students and graduates in the Houston area to fulfill its purpose.
